Faruq Ibnul Haqi is a Lecturer at Department of Architecture, Faculty of Science and Technology, The State Islamic University of Sunan Ampel (UINSA) Surabaya, who specializes in architectural design, urban and regional planning, and sustainable urban design. He received his Bachelor of Architecture (B.Arch) from Islamic University of Indonesia (UII Yogyakarta) in 2009. Then, Faruq holds a Master’s degree from School of Natural Built and Environment (NBE), University of South Australia (UniSA) in 2015 concentrating on Urban and Regional Planning degree (M.RgnlUrbPlan). He completed his master degree full supported by Australia Awards Scholarship (AAS) from Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT), the Government of Australia. During study in UniSA, he obtained International Grant from Australian Government to conducting study visit, research and project in Hue City and Da Nang City, Vietnam. Prior to 2010, he was a Lecturer Assistant at Laboratory of Building and Technology, Islamic University of Indonesia (UII) Yogyakarta, where he taught building construction and material, and architectural design studio. Furthermore, in Central Java Province, he served as a Vice President for the Association of Construction Service Nusantara (APJAKON). A specialist in architecture and planning, and urban design, Mr. Faruq conducts research focusing on political leadership (mayoral), urban design and health (especially with regard to Indonesian cities). His current primary research interest include urban architecture, urban design (policy) interventions, and healthy city in developing countries, with particular emphasis on Indonesia.
